New Toy

I am now the proud owner of a flash! I do love natural light photography, but now I can take photos at night, inside. This means more variety for everyone.

Before bed tonight I took some quick shots of Miss L, who reluctantly went along (I am sure she is not as happy as I am that I can take photos at all hours now!)

She insisted on being a frog. Frogs pout you see.

The Shed

Last year we took Lily there for a couple of days. I remember how we used to put her hair in that tuft of a ponytail - now it is much longer and messier. I've been resisting it, but we are taking her to get her hair cut on the weekend. Just a tidy up though, not a huge chop - I like her messy baby hair too much.

Puddle Jumping

Living on a hill, we get a little river of water happening when it rains heavily (and apparently under our house turns into a puddle... but we wont go into that). Lily had a great time jumping in all the puddles anyway!

On a side note, we had to cut a chunk of her hair today as we found chewing gum in it. Chewing gum! None of us chew gum!

Lazy days

Another from the 'going through old photos' series...

One of my favourite things are lazy days with Lily. In our old house we would often take a blanket out to the backyard and lay down together - which ultimately ended up with L kicking me off the blanket or jumping on me (which of course is hillarious and resulted in lots of giggles, especially when I said "ow").

This particular day Lily had "dolly" out to enjoy the sunshine. We are so very original with names here - all dolls are known as Dolly, Baby, Little Baby, Little Girl, and Poor Baby. Poor Baby has no legs. Other toy names include Polar Bear, Doggie, Puppy, Bunny and Bear. See if you can guess what they are ;-)

Dolly is a find of Lily's from her Nanny's house and is approximately 17 years old - with a lovely haircut from her previous owner. She is a favourite.

New Place...

I was a little bit sad when we left our previous house to move into this one. Besides the lovely neighbours and their children (who L adored) the backyard had the most gorgeous light in the afternoons. Our new house, while positioned so much better for heat and cooling purposes, has the backyard shaded by huge trees and we dont get the same sunset lighting.
But as Lily and I discovered this weekend, our terraced (and somewhat run down) front yard provides a great place for photos (and making cubby houses for 'dolly').

P.S check out her hat - $1.96 at Target. Got to love a bargain!

On Saturday we were lucky enough to be invited to the wedding of my friend since school, Emily and her now husband, Chris. It was just beautiful and their son Aiden looked fantastic in his little pinstripe suit. Congratulations guys xx

And speaking of husbands, this is mine at the reception, who often puts up with me sticking a camera in his face (which probably explains the look!).

Blast from the Past

I have been sorting out photo files on my computer that are yet to be transferred. While picking out what to keep I came across these from last July:

I cant believe what a difference 7 months makes! The first photo was taken on one of our regular walks down the road from my parents house. There is a 'hidden' bridge over a creek which L adored throwing rocks off. We spent ages that day collecting rocks for her and helping her drop them in the water.
The second picture was taken while playing on the 'tamp-o-lin' which to this day brings a laugh every time she gets on.

Apologies for the lack of posts lately - I have started full time work and we have just moved in to our very first home! It is so nice to have our own little piece of the world. We are madly unpacking and deciding on what to do with the place - it has a huge entertaining area out the back which Miss L just adores.

(especially as she gets her own corner of it)
Unfortunately a side effect of this has been limited time for photography, however everything is settling down nicely and I should be able to devote more time to my photos.

(L enjoyed posing for me in the backyard this weekend - this was one of her poses, which were pretty entertaining)

Today I got to do a session with spunky little Will, who made taking his photos very easy - even though I kept disturbing him once he fell asleep. He even gave a huge smile at the end!

As promised, here are some shots from a recent Tikiboo shoot (http://tikiboo.com.au/) Belinda and Alexandra were the very cute models. These two just adore each other, which was shown by the way they played tea parties, ring-a-rosy and chased each other about for the whole shoot. The first lot of clothes ("Fairyland Magic") is retailing exclusive to La Toriana (http://latoriana.com.au)

I have to include this one - Belinda was such a trooper, even though her head was patched up from a fall, she modeled beautifully and was very good at looking the right direction to hide her patch for the 'modeling' shots.

Lily, my daughter the run-away-when-camera-comes-out-and-frown child, actually asked me to take pictures the other day! (okay, so she wanted me to take pictures of 'dolly' but she also posed with dolly) It was so very cute having her tell me her ideas of where she should sit, and how dolly should sit on her lap. She then proceeded to get an old camera and take pictures of dolly in various poses - aww.

There has been a lack of posts recently, we've moved house, I have my final exam Friday, and Miss L has come down with a bug. But things will be less hectic very soon as more posts and photos will follow!

I leave with a shot of the little one helping in the backyard (notice the hairdo? That is usually all that remains of done hair at the end of the day!)
